Central Market
Watch the women traders and Padang Merdaka (where the original state palace was located) lKnown for its rich cultural heritage, age-old customs & traditions and fascinatingly unique traditional pastimes, it seemed unlikely that an alien phenomenon like golf could take root in Kelantan. Yet it did and it looks like it's here to stay.

The Cultural Centre is very popular and there are performances of top spinning, traditional dance dramas, wayang kulit and other traditional activities.

The State Museum
Next to the tourist information centre, brings together a fasinating array of artefacts, crafts, paintings and photographic displays.

The Kelantan Golf and Country Club
Situated near the Kota Bharu Airport at Pengkalan Chepa, is the biggest golf haven in the state. What began as a mere 3-hole layout is now an 18-hole par 72 course offering an exciting challenge to the ever-increasing number of avid golfers. The most striking thing about the course is its tranquil air and its serene rustic appeal. Golfers, however, need to shake themselves out of the complacency induced by the swaying palms and pit their skills against the odds imposed by the numerous ponds, sand traps and bunkers on the relatively flat terrain.
If you find the lure of Kota Bharu's cultural attractions irresistible, you might also like to experience the pleasure of a round of golf within the peaceful pastoral setting of the Kelantan Golf and Country Club.

Telok Chempedak
Just five minutes away from Kuantan is the popular bathing beach of Telok Chempedak. Gently swaying palms bid you welcome as you step on the powdery white sand while the cool sea breeze softly lulls you into slumber. Telok Chempedak is also a favourite among surfers, skiing and sailing enthusiasts apart from being a popular retreat for sunbathers. Beyond the main beach there are secluded sunbathing spots for those seeking some privacy while listening to the gentle breaking of the waves. Close to Telok Chempedak are fishing villages where the warm hospitality of the village folks will melt your heart.

Chendor Beach
About 1 1/2 km from Cherating is the famous Chendor Beach. Here, from the early July to September, you can watch green turtles or occasionally giant leatherback turtles toil ashore to lay eggs. It's a ritual worth experiencing. Besides the turtles, Chendor Beach offers some fine bathing spots. Those seeking for peace and seclusion will enjoy this beach.

Sungai Pandan Waterfalls
The Sungai Pandan Waterfalls, which spans 11 hectares, is 25 kilometers from Kuantan. It is easily accessible by main road and a 5-mile stretch of paved road. The falls is a popular holiday spot consisting of cascading rapids, from which the water collects at a pool below, where swimming is possible.

Beserah
The small fishing village of Beserah, just 10km from Kuantan, is very pleasant. Unfortunately, there is no accommodation available here. Buses to Kemaman, Balok and Sungai Karang all pass through Beserah. They leave from the main bus station in Kuantan.

Gua Charas(Charas Caves)
Gua Charas is a limestone outcrop with caves that contain some Thai statuary. Take the Sungai Lembing bus from the main bus station in Kuantan and get off at the small village of Panching. From there it's a hot 4km walk each way - hitchhiking is possible, or maybe a taxi.

Tasik Chini
Tasik Chini is a series of 12 lakes, situated about 60km west of Kuantan, and around its shores live the Jakun people, an Orang asli tribe. It's a very beautiful area and you can walk for miles in jungle territory and stay at the nearby Orang Asli village of Kampung Gumum.
