Cameron Highlands is the largest most famous hill resort in the country situated 295km (3 1/2 hr drive) to the north of Kuala Lumpur with cool lush mountain peaks, waterfalls and tea plantations. Tucked away at 1829 metre's above sea-level the weather is pleasantly cool, not cold with temperatures hovering between 16 to 26o C. Jungle walks are the thing to do here and there are a number of nature trails which vary in difficulty. The trails take you to see some of the spectacular views of the highland forests. It is best to engage the services of a guide if you wish to explore the harder trails as the maps provided by the local tourist office can be somewhat inaccurate.

Tanah Rata is the principal township where most of the main banks and government offices are situated. Next is Brinchang which is about 15 minutes drive from Tanah Rata. This is where most of the hotels are located. The night market which is open every Saturday night features all kinds of vegetables, flowers, fruits and other products of the highlands.

Taman Negara - 130 million years of nature & adventure. Taman Negara, is the world's oldest tropical rainforest located in Malaysias greatest national park. Preserved to stay the way nature intended it to be, a haven for hundreds of species of wildlife, exotic birds, fish and plants. There are trails for all levels of fitness from easy short 90 minute walks around the well trodden park headquarters or for the adventurous, 9 days trekking up Gunung Tahan (at 2187m, the highest mountain on the Malaysia Peninsular).
